This past week I had the honor of attending the 2016 Precor Immersion Training session at the company's headquarters in Woodinville, WA. New sales associates and industry veterans alike gathered to hear the Precor story- a story of rich tradition and commitment to excellence with every single fitness piece that comes off the factory line.

If you're an athlete or workout enthusiast, you've probably heard of Precor (the name derived from Precision Corporation) and associated it with top of the line treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. But what makes Precor so great? It starts with the passion of the upper management, which ripples throughout the company to managers, sales representatives and factory workers-most of which have been there for a decade or more. You get a sense that these people genuinely enjoy their job, they are dedicated and it's no surprise they put out a damn good product.

The Precor Creed is as follows:

I desire a life without limits.

I believe fitness is key to living the life I desire.

I believe in the power of the human spirit.

I believe the human body is an amazing thing.

I believe tomorrow will be even better because of my actions today.

I believe in the importance of doing things right versus first.

I believe in mutual respect and the overwhelming returns of sharing.

I am the heart and soul of Precor.

Precor spends roughly $2 million per year on research. Why is this important? They are able to ensure that you can work out longer, harder and better using the latest technology. Their Precision series treadmills have Ground Effects Impact Control System, which means they have the best shock absorption possible (38.6% based on a study by Nike). They are also the only treadmills out there with Integrated Footplant Technology (IFT). IFT accommodates for your unique stride by slowing the belt for a split second when your foot lands. When you run, the natural motion is that your foot slows down when it hits the ground and pushes off. Instead of the belt jerking you forward like other treadmills, Precor treadmills ADAPT TO YOU.

In 1995, Precor introduced the first EFX (Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainer). People of all abilities, shapes and sizes could get a great cardio workout with zero impact! Since then, the company has tried to consider every minute detail when it comes to your comfort on a machine, all the way down to the grips behind the console for your hand to fit nicely while you change speed or elevation. Precision series ellipticals use an electromagnetic system and have no moving parts in the system to wear out or fail. The CrossRamp is a huge differentiator of Precor ellipticals. A motorized variable position ramp allows for changing the focus to different muscles during a workout, providing a different feel and cross training capability. The latest elliptical, the EFX 833 has a Converging CrossRamp, which allows for your feet to converge toward the midline of the machine, mimicking a more natural running motion.

The Adaptive Motion Trainer (AMT) is another brilliant machine and is the first piece of cardio equipment to allow an exerciser five ways to change the experience (stride length, stride height, resistance, speed and direction). The AMT can be positioned to replace the stairclimber, bike, elliptical and treadmill-great for couples or big families so each can get their own unique workout. You literally cannot do the same workout twice on the AMT since IT ADAPTS TO YOU. Global sales of the AMT are north of $400 million since its 2007 launch.

Precor believes in partnering with other companies and sharing knowledge to develop the best, most efficient product in the industry. For example, in 2015 they partnered with Madd Dog Athletics to introduce a new line of commercial Spinner indoor bikes.

Precor designs and engineers entirely in the USA and they do most of their manufacturing in the US as well. Every piece is tested by an actual human being before being boxed and shipped. They pride themselves on being green and cut down recycling from their production facility from almost daily to once a YEAR. They have a goal of being 100% landfill free in the very near future and were recently named to the Washington Green 50 list by Seattle Business Magazine.

Fit and performance of a machine take priority over cost, appearance and features. With a Precor product, you get piece of mind and pride of ownership. What is your quality of life worth?
